IF the patient is under 55 NO INSURANCE will approve. Pt. should do self-pay!

IF the patient has Medicare, four things MUST BE TRUE and stated in the report for us to get reimbursed. If they answer no to any of these questions, we need to get payment from them.(whether they are self-pay or not, the radiologists want this information):

Age range of 55-77

NO SIGNS/SYMPTOMS of LUNG CANCER

Tobacco HISTORY- (how many packs a day, and has to be at least 1 pack a day for 30 years)

That they are a CURRENT smoker or quit in the LAST 15 YEARS

Please be sure to verify that they are in the correct age range and to ask for the specific answers to these questions BEFORE scanning Low Dose CT Chests. There is a tech note for this in PACs where you should add this information.
